Glaubten Specialized Hospital
Concept + Strategy
Product + space
A spatial design concept for theGlaubten Specialized Hospital for Social Medicine and Addiction Disorders translates the hospital’s philosophy, identity, and history into the built environment. At the center are the people who find treatment, stability, and support here. The design creates a personal and inviting environment, provides orientation, and makes the hospital’s social and medical philosophy visible in everyday life. At the same time, it draws on the institution’s history and the legacy of Pastor Ernst Sieber. His commitment to people on the margins of society continues to shape the place to this day and is thoughtfully carried forward through the spatial design. The result is a place with personality and history—a place that builds trust, strengthens identity, and makes the special mission of the Glaubten Specialized Hospital tangible.

Orientation, History, and Attitude
The project began with numerous conversations, personal memories, and historical materials. This led to the creation of a curated collection of quotes, photographs, and narrative elements that guides visitors and staff through the foundation’s history. The wall displays provide orientation, convey the foundation’s values, and bring defining moments in its history to life in everyday settings.

Special attention was paid to presenting the content in a respectful and authentic manner. The design was intended not to dramatize, but to document, commemorate, and connect. The result is a spatial narrative that links the past and the present.

The installations were created using high-quality printed films and traditional paste-up wallpaper. The variety of materials lends the spaces a vibrant and tactile quality and underscores the documentary nature of the project.
